About Us...
Taipei International Church (TIC) is an evangelical interdenominational
congregation of believers from many different countries and Christian
backgrounds. At present, our Sunday morning attendance numbers in excess
of 300 people. The afternoon Filipino worship consistently averages 60
- 70 people. TIC has a longstanding tradition of ministry and service
to the city of Taipei. We began as a church in the mid-1950's, when a
group of expatriate business people, missionaries, and military personnel
saw the need for an English-speaking church to serve the needs of the
foreign community in Taipei. From that time on, although TIC has continually
experienced change and turnover in its constituents, we have maintained
a constant gospel witness and presence in Taiwan. Our ministries and outreach
have expanded year by year.
A key word that describes our church "flexibility". TIC is
constantly prepared to change its focus in order to meet current demands.
At the same time, we continue to maintain a firm commitment to the treasured
basics of the Christian faith. TIC does not own any buildings or land
in Taipei. Our ministry center/church office is a rented facility. All.
weekday ministries take place in this location. Our Sunday school, worship
service and Filipino worship are all held on the Taipei American School
campus.
The TIC professional staff is composed of a Senior Pastor, two Associate
Pastors, one Tagalog (Filipino) Ministry Director, two full time secretaries,
and a part-time accountant. The Senior Pastor is in charge of the general
direction of the Church, office personnel, and day-to-day operation of
the church. He is also responsible for planning and conducting the Sunday
worship service, overseeing the various ministries of the church and,
in concert with the Board of Elders, responsible for Church vision and
direction. The Associate Pastor for Youth and Young Adults works under
the leadership of the Senior Pastor to plan, guide, implement and direct
the ministry of the youth and young adults of TIC. The Associate Pastor
for Tagalog Ministry also works under the leadership of the Senior Pastor
to plan, implement, and direct the church's ministry to the Filipino community
in Taipei. He is in charge of planning and leading a separate afternoon
Tagalog language worship service. The Ministry Director of the Tagalog
Fellowship works directly under the supervision of the Associate Pastor
for Tagalog Ministry.
The Sunday morning worship services at TIC strive to be a careful blending
of old and new, traditional and contemporary. Our music worship is a combination
of praise songs and older hymns. We have an instrumental ensemble that
begins our service each Sunday morning. The preaching is Word-centered
and expository in nature. There is an occasional altar call for anyone
wanting to respond to the message. There are always members designated
to assist in prayer ministry after the conclusion of the worship service.
